Classroom Helpers
Classroom Helpers help Regional Connections EAL (English as an Additional Language) instructors in the classroom. EAL classes are for adult learners with a variety of needs - multi-level everyday English, workplace and professional English, pronunciation, writing, etc.Primary Responsibilities
- Assist an EAL instructor during a lesson by providing general help, one-on-one tutoring, small group guidance, etc. as determined by the instructor
Time Commitment
- Classes run from September to April
- Time commitments can vary depending on volunteer availability and classroom needs
Orientation, Training, and Support
- Classroom Helper orientation sessions will include program information and address language learning basics, learning styles, learning activities, cultural skills, etc.
Requirements
- A valid and current Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry form must be submitted prior to engaging with newcomers
- Keep private client information confidential
How do I get started?
1. Submit an application form
2. Meet with the Volunteer Program Coordinator and the EAL Program Coordinator
3. Attend initial orientation session
4. Meet the teacher and the class
5. Have fun!
